Hey, everybody!
Thanks for joining us for a very special episode of Blossom… Wait, no. As mentioned a week ago, we’ve joined up with Comics for Japan, and put together this special comic in the hopes that you, our dear readers, would consider helping a country that has given us so much: The movie Ponyo, Blu-ray players which will play Ponyo, Toyota Siennas that drive us to Best Buy to purchase Sony flat screen TVs so that we can watch our Blue-ray discs of…well, you get the idea.
In all seriousness, though, please consider helping. The people in Northern Japan have been through an earthquake, a tsunami, and now a possible nuclear catastrophe. This sort of thing would be considered too far-fetched for Michael Bay and Jerry Bruckheimer to film, but this actually happened to real people. To real families. To our brothers and sisters in the family of humankind.
First up, Google and the Red Cross in Japan have teamed up on a page for monetary donations. The lowest you can donate is 100 yen, which translates to just above $2. Every little bit counts.
Prefer to send something other than money? Check out Second Harvest. This is an organization in Japan to which you can ship supplies that will be given DIRECTLY to the people who need them. Take a look at the list of supplies at the link. You might consider gathering up a big box of supplies and having a few friends pitch in for shipping to Japan. They need raw supplies more than money at this time.
You can also text REDCROSS to 90999 to easily donate $10 to the Red Cross.
Thank you for reading, and may your life be blessed even more than it already has been,
–Jeff & Jeremy

And if folks want to give cash or check rather than online, we’re collecting for the Red Cross here at Aaron’s Books for all of March and through 2nd Friday in April!

Great strip for a great cause. Awesome job on this strip.
Thanks, Todd! Anime style is very near and dear to my heart. I hope I did it justice with today’s offering.
Total awesome all around!
Thanks, David! This was a very fun format to create.
Bravo, gentlemen. Bravo!!!
BTW, what’s Ponyo?
Oh man. Check out this link to the DVD: http://amzn.to/eTloM8
Miyazaki is kinda like the Japanese Walt Disney. Conveniently enough, Disney has re-released many (if not all) of his movies with American voice actors. If you haven’t seen any Miyazaki films, start with Ponyo, Spirited Away, and Howl’s Moving Castle. We love his movies.
Ah!!! Another Miyazaki film . . . cool!!! Spirited Away and Howl’s Moving Castle are two of my favorite films. . . just didn’t know about this one. How do these oversights happen?
YEAH! It’s a toss-up between Spirited Away and Howl for me, too. Totally my two favorite Miyazaki films. Ponyo is a really sweet film. Very heartwarming, and a little more “family-oriented” than Spirited Away and Howl, if that makes any sense.
Andi, Ponyo and My Neighbor Totoro are Nora’s favorite movies (other than the Princess Bride, of course). She knows them by heart!
