Jeff: Even though these guys have been on tour for a bit now, apparently they still lack some basic knowledge of how things work. So…if you had just seen The Ouro Bros. in action, what sort of merchandise would you be interested in purchasing? Personally, I’m thinking either an 8-track or the home video game for the Atari 2600 Video Computer System. Either way, I think cartridges are the wave of the future…
Jeremy: If it hasn’t become readily apparent to you guys yet, these brothers are really kinda making up the whole “being an independent touring band” thing as they go along. It’s fun to amplify some of the inexperience that my own band had in first trying to do our own tours in this comic. We never were without merchandise, but we found out later on that it was best to spend more money up front on it to have more variety, and then recoup while on the road. But the whole idea of spending money we didn’t have didn’t occur to us off the bat. Spend money to make money? What is that? Oh yeah, that’s right – the American way.

As one who used to work merch tables for a couple of trib bands, you need T-shirts, hats, and believe it or not, bears. A friend of mine used to design and make this stuff for a couple of different bands. The bears were a HUGE surprise. In fact, there was a FB discussion that someone spotted a now defunct KISSteria hat backstage at a recent KISS show. Jamie designed those, and the hats are still around.
Bears, eh? I have never seen bears on a merch table before. That would be cool to have Ouro Bears.
Ouro Bears?? O_O
Total win!
Oh my word, I am laughing so hard now. Non-locals won’t get this, but you guys NAILED Gregg big time. The look, the words and actions, and the merch table. Oh how this brings back memories. Great job guys.
What’s funny is, I don’t know if Jeff has ever met him. But he has magic powers, so I am sure he cast a few spells to conjure the words of the cartoon Barley you see today.
I love how they are learning it as they are on tour, it really allows us to watch them grow. I would say T-Shirts, Pumper Stickers, etc. Maybe Balthazar could come up with temporary tramp stamps to sale.
Yeah, I think that’s the real fun in making this comic. Taking my life of stumbling through the music industry and learning things the hard way, but amplifying those deficiencies even more with the Bros., with the help of the beloved Wordspout, who I think does a fantastic job of making the characters relatable on a much higher level than I could on my own.
Also, are pumper stickers the types of decals you put on sewage pumps?
The Burro Brothers hahaha!
Don’t forget to order undies for the girls. Those are all the rage…
I would definitely buy an Ouro Bros. t-shirt.
