31: The Judgmental Sound Of Recalculation
Jeff: I kinda envision Stan with a GPS and a traffic circle as sounding something like this: “At the roundabout, take the second right. Turn now. Recalculating. Turn n-. Recalculating. Tur-Recalculating… And recalculating. Again. Just disconnect me, you jerk. I wasn’t programmed for this kind of abuse.”
Jeremy: I like how Stan has seemingly become the GPS tormentor, and Balthazar stands up for it. The tables have turned since the days of GPS Hut…
So, I recently picked up a subtle color trick from John Wigger over at Zombie Roomie that allows me to change the overall “light source” color (if you will) of an inked, colored, and shaded panel. If you noticed, these nighttime van hues are a little smoother and cooler, thanks to some simple fun with layer blending modes and opacity in Photoshop (some of you are saying “well DUH”, and others of you are saying “blending modes…?”). Simply put, I now have methods for subtly changing a panel’s feel to go with the lighting of a given time of day, light source, or surroundings. It’s fun to pick up even the littlest tricks that make the look of the strip that much more believable.
Oh my gosh! I went through this yesterday while taking Deanna home via back roads. LOL!!
*snort*
This is like driving with my father. Hilarious.
Wait, so your father loves to confound the GPS? Or your father is the one who witheringly states, “Recalculating”? Distinct difference, there… 😉
i got yer blending modes right HERE!
Oh you have them? Good. I was worried they wouldn’t ship in time for Christmas. It’s good I can always count on you to hold my package, Ken.
How poetic that the frosty word bubble is right above Elle, just as she seems to be warming up. Sweet moon too.
I know, right? I mean, she’s going to have to warm up to them _some_time, right? Especially if she’ll be travelling with them for a bit. And thanks for the compliment on the moon. I was very proud when I created those 😀
“Stop tormenting the GPS, Stan” – That line cracks me up… great post!
I have used the GPS with the traffic circles in Maryland. It’s quite dangerous seeing which one they want you to pick.
