39: COFFEECOFFEECOFFEECOFFEE…!
Jeff: Yet another good shot of downtown Lancaster, PA, here. And I asked Jeremy in my script for this one to give it a really good Hanna-Barbera/Scooby Doo feel. And honestly? I feel a “Zoinks!” coming on just looking at it. 🙂
Jeremy: I think my favorite part of doing this strip was Bal’s skid-stop. Â I was picturing Tom Cruise sliding into the living room, lip-syncing Bob Seger in his underwear, button-down shirt, and tube socks (of course, this is a regular feature in my mind).
What you are looking at in the background of this strip are two of the coolest places (that happen to be side-by-side) in Lancaster. Â One is my friend Mike’s record store Mr. Suit Records, where you can find just about anything you’re looking for in new and used vinyl (and if you can’t, I’m sure he can locate it for you). Â The other is the place where the wonderful artist Steve Lowery emblazoned my right arm with Elfquest ink (picture below):
Yeah, Steve rules.

LOL!!
All I can say is LMAO!!! I’ve heard great things about Transcending Flesh, just haven’t had another tattoo in the budget…yet.
Why do I get the feeling you’re both channeling your wives into this comic…?
Why? Just because we have a frantic guy trying to chase after and calm down a coffee-addicted fiend…? Okay, I think I better stop talking now…
Yeah, they’re definitely channeling their wives in quite a few of these Elle strips. Kind of a shame Elle seems a bit crazy, eh? What do you think THAT means, huh???
We’re channeling your mom in that strip, dear. That’s who.
1st you are indeed channeling Kirsten’s. She has Coffee instead of blood. 2. The Comic is looking better and better. 🙂
Wives need coffee. That’s a t-shirt slogan, right? 😉 And thanks, Jason! 😀
Today’s strip is awesomely laid out. The long panels showing the background is awesome. Lancaster should be proud to be drawn by you Jeremy.
After such a long drive Elle was ready to just crack if she didn’t get Coffee and now she has. The situations ya’ll put your characters in is awesome Jeff, I really like the way your scripting this webcomic.
The only way to subdue her boys is with a double-espresso and stat.
Thanks as always, Todd! I am blessed to have all these buildings nearby, so I can get exactly the art reference photos I need for this storyline. I don’t know what I’m going to do when the Bros leave Lancaster! EEEEEK!
Well, that brings up a good question that I’d like help from YOU, our readers, to answer: After Lancaster, where would you like to see the Bros go? I’ve seen a request via Twitter (@zoidland and @thebestjeremy) for New York City, but what else is out there, folks? Where should the Neverending Tour take our heroes? Let us know!
I’d love to see the Never Ending Tour take them to all the large cities pursuing gigs, playing openers, etc. This would allow them to make more and more connections with other bands and eventually they could be headliners for well known groups. It would also allow them to take in a lot of the smaller towns in between these locations. You could have them going to places like Twinsburg, Ohio during Twins Day (they could meet one of the guys Doppleganger), or Burning Man in Black Rock City, NV, etc. After all it is a “Never Ending Tour”. 🙂
Great ideas, Todd! And yes, they’ll eventually play everywhere I’m sure, since they’re not leaving the road behind them. Well, I guess they do leave road behind them everywhere they go… Um, I can’t think today.
I’ll tell ya what you need to do Jeremy when the brothers leave Lancaster. Grab your camera, some art supplies…and…ROAD TRIP!!! 🙂 Thankfully though, Google Maps Street view can help ya out with a lot of that from the comfort of your own home. 🙂
That’s actually a great idea, Todd! What do you think, Jeff? You don’t have a job, right? Me neither! LET’S GO!!! Seriously though, it would be awesome to do an Ouro Bros road trip vacation. We may have to do something like that in the future… maybe to a Comic Con or something (I guess YEARS in the future haha).
And yes, I always forget that Google has already been everywhere. I guess street view is available all over the place nowadays.
I seriously thought Scooby Doo as soon as I saw it! Love it 🙂
greatv strip and wow, that’s an awesome tattoo!
Thanks, Gavin! I just started reading your archives. I really like your art style. Not to mention the comic is funny. Looking forward to making my way through the rest. Thanks for finding the Ouro Bros! And yes, Steve Lowery at Transcending Flesh is the MAN.
As for next stops, well, Elle obviously needs coffee. Would love to see Square One. I’m sure we’ll get back to the Chameleon, but how about the Fulton, Central Market, Penn Square, the 300 Block (I’d love to see the Wiebners make an appearance!).
Oh, and if you head out of town, there’s this porch…
Oh, and there’s that dude with the bow-tie who’s always walking around…
You will see who and what comes next. You will see…
The title makes me think of PIZZA PIZZA! 🙂
This is my favorite one so far visually. It has a really really neat look with the three long panels. I am partial to the location too of course.
Thank you. It is a block near and dear to my heart as well 🙂
