149: Bigger On The Inside
Jeremy: We are now fully immersed in Chester’s quest. It almost makes me wish that Ouro Bros was a fantasy adventure comic. Almost. Speaking of immersion, besides Star Trek: TNG, I was never really much of a Star Trek fan until the last few years. I always used to stay to one side of science fiction, that side being Star Wars. But in my advanced years, I have grown to appreciate a broader spectrum of sci-fi, including the Star Trek universe. Even so, I still had to do a google image search for Spock’s rocket boots when Jeff told me that was what he was referencing for panel 2.
Jeff: Yeah, I wanted panel 2 to point out that Chester is an all-around geek, with some pretty wide-ranging interests. Jeremy already let the Caitian out of the bag with the rocket boots. Can you guys identify the other references?
Man, he pulled out everything but the Kitchen Sink….no, there it is. Ah yeah!
I would safely suspect the Chainsaw is from Army of Darkness, and the adamantium (let me scroll up and make sure I spelled that right…yep) would be from Wolverine, the suction cup gloves, I’m not sure of, but that is one heck of a pile he’s pulled out behind him. He’s got some mad packing skills.
Not sure about the chainsaw, but the adamantium is from Xmen – Wolverine; suction cup gloves – only thing I could think of there was Mission Impossible (unless you want to emulate Spiderman); rabbits and rabbit ear antennae? Not sure about that one or several of the other visual effects. 🙂 But having a TARDIS type tool belt would be amazing. 🙂
The rabbit is Monty Python, I assume. Ash is gonna be so pissed Chester took his chainsaw! And that rope looks awfully Elvish to me.
