72: Amped Up
Jeremy: This comic strip was an exercise for me in Tie-Namics, which is the term I just coined for doing fun things with Stan’s tie. Now that Stan has a tie, it gets to play the role of supplementing Stan’s expressions. I also like the idea that since the Bros are living each day of their life on the road, they can just use any free time on tour to seek out rehearsal spaces with hourly rental charges. They have to write more songs somehow, right? Now they just need to record those buggers…
Jeff: I also think this is the closest we’ve gotten to any discord (dis-chord? get it?) between the Bros. They’re really pretty mature siblings, overall, but I think they’re just having a bad day, here.
This is surreal.
Indeed. If the text in this comic wasn’t entirely made up of Muppet Movie references, it would seem like some sort of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas adventure.
Wow who put the acid in my apple juice this morning?
This is absolutely wonderful guys. Love the Bear in his natural habitat – Studebaker line. AWESOME SAUCE!! Man I can’t wait for the new Muppet Movie in December.
True story, I loved the original Muppets Movie so much as a kid that when I became a teenager I started trying to rebuild a Studebaker cause I thought it would be the coolest car in the world to drive. Now keep in mind this was late 80’s / early 90’s in East Texas so the craze was Big Big Trucks, so I was headed down a road of infinite wedgies. After I realized how much I was going to have to sink into this project, my DQ Paycheck suddenly seemed smaller than before and I shelled out $250 for a ’71 Chevy Nova. Sure it wasn’t the project I wanted, but it gave me 4 years of back road hot doggin that I have a feelin’ the Studebaker would not have enjoyed so much. That poor car still sits in the woods to this day.
*Hangs his head in remembrance of lost dreams*
Todd, I was never that big into cars when I was… well, my whole life, pretty much, but I had pretty much the same reaction to Fozzie’s Studebaker that you did. I thought that car was so stinkin’ cool after watching the Muppet Movie. Ah, so many good memories of that movie. That is one that would come on TV as a Saturday afternoon matinee every so often. I remember distinctly sitting by my family’s fireplace on a cold day watching the Muppet Movie (one of many times I saw it). I love that movie. I don’t own it at this point, but I think I need to get a copy.
Strange, the e-mail about the comic had a different comic embedded in it. But THIS one is GREAT. I love the “fork in the road” bit.
Love, love, love the Muppets. It’s sad to watch the movie now – so many of the great people in it are dead now… including Henson.
I find the Muppets tribute album insulting to the Muppets. I guess I’m glad some people enjoy it, but I would rather it not exist.
And I think the Muppets should have ended when Jim did. There hasn’t been anything good since, except the Christmas Carol – which was already written.
But that’s the old codger in me. “New stuff ruins all the old, great stuff” <- shaking fists. "Get off my lawn!"
AWESOME!!!!
