17: Bested JEEPS Ever!
Jeremy: For this comic, I put the call out to anyone who was interested in having their likeness in an Ouro Bros. comic, for the part of the store clerk. Using one of the photos submitted, I aged the person a little bit and stuck a moustache on the character. For now, I will let those of you who submitted photos see if you can guess whose likeness I used to create the GPS HUT clerk (as well as anyone else who wants to venture it). Please feel free to comment on this comic with your guesses, as well as anything else you would like to add via comment. I will update this post with the correct answer once you all have had a chance to comment and guess. Thanks for stopping by!
Jeff: On behalf of the management, I would like to apologize if any of my compatriot’s entry there sounded vaguely at all like he might have been pandering for comments or traffic on our site. The truth of the matter is that we most decidedly do indeed wantmore comments and traffic. Hands, as they say, down. Any hesitancy or indirectness on my esteemed partner’s part was in error, and for that, I apologize. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Jeremy: And after you comment on the site (wink and nudge), head on over to The Lancast to listen to our first ever podcast interview for The Ouro Bros! David Moulton and Chad Diller (of U-StickIt Graphics, filling in for Daniel Klotz) invited us onto the Lancast to discuss our roles in this webcomic, as well as other fun and zany antics. We had a great time. Thanks, Lancast!
Added 9/17/10:
Jeremy: As was foretold earlier, here is my update. The clerk likeness originated from this high school photograph of Keith Eiser, a local reader.
As I said before, to create the cartoon version, I used this photo, aged it a bit, and added the moustache. The resulting character is a Boy/Man composite. So I named him Eiser Boyman (pronounced Boy-min).
Discussion ¬
I think the suits and the pose make them look like members of the Rat Pack. Hmmm…inspiration from something pointed out, let’s see if we can figure this out. Quick Robin…to the archives. 🙂
OK, I’m gonna try to post the URL again in the next comment. For some reason I’ve tried posting it twice and it keeps dissappearing. Just in case it doesn’t post for what ever reason, do a search on Duo Ouro Negro and you’ll find the album cover.
Yep, when I put the URL in it drops the comment. Not sure if it’s holding them for admin approval or if it is just dropping them completely. Here is the site minus the .html on the end, if you want to see it just copy and paste it into your browser and add .html on the end.

Todd gets it! Duo Ouro Negro – hence “Black Gold”.
Those guys were huge it looks like, I’m sure the Brothers wouldn’t mind having that same problem, just in the States…but then again, being huge in Brazil has it’s perks too. 🙂
dang. I shoulda guessed that one!
How did I miss this one?
Did you know that we were doing a comic every weekday this week? This one was Monday’s installment of our one-year anniversary week celebration. 🙂
Oh my. They should buy these for special occasions.
