20: The Bros Abide
Jeremy: Oh MAN, this is my absolute favorite comic strip so far. For those of you who don’t already know this, The Big Lebowski (as if you needed the link) is one of my all-time favorite movies. As such, this strip was heaps of fun to draw. If Wordspout (aka Jeff “The Total Package” Burkholder) would have made this strip 4 more panels, featuring more characters from The Big Lebowski, I would not have complained. Anyway, a good deal of heart went into this strip, and I am really proud of how it turned out.
Plus – Open Mic Night? Come on guys, you can find a better venue for your music than that, can’t you? I guess they needed some place to work on their live playing chops, while making their way back from that massive Utah detour. Oh boys…
Jeff: Yeah, when I originally wrote it, there wasn’t any reference to the movie. At the end of the script, though, I added a note that the omnipotent narration in the first panel could easily be done by the Mysterious Cowboy from The Big Lebowski. Jeremy, of course, loooOOooved that idea, and we ran with it. And with this strip, our boys return to doing what they do best: Running away from feral penguins. I mean, playing music. Yeah, that one.
Jeremy: Oh, that’s right, MY bad. I let my Lebowski run away with me on that one. You opened the door, my friend, and I ran through it and peed on your valued rug. Am I wrong?!
