The Story So Far…

In case you’re not certain where we’re at, here’s a quick recap:

The Ouro Bros band (Stan, Bal, Elle, & Chester), in order to keep up with a grueling schedule, were constantly driving and playing – but not sleeping – which led to falling asleep at the wheel, and a van crash. They were picked up by a benevolent tribute band, and they and their busted-up Luck Wagon were driven cross-country for some R&R. Now, somewhere around Seattle, the band members are attempting to find parts with which they can repair the van. Chester, the resident mechanic, gave each member a list of items to procure. So, off they go, with a little daydreaming to add color to the festivities…

Added by Jeremy right around noon: Great idea for a post, Jeff! Let me also add that not only did the band want to fix up their van post-crash to get it into a drive-able state, but that upon adding Elle to the mix back in Kilgore TX, the decision was made to renovate the van to make it more comfortable for the foursome. So these little quests are not only for finding parts to fix the van, but also to make some adjustments, per Bal and Chester’s schematics (initiated here and shown (in part) here).

I Drew Some Old Superheroes!

This past week and in the coming week(s), Brock Heasley and Marc LaPierre over at SuperFogeys are celebrating the 5th Anniversary of a great webcomic about aged superheroes living in a retirement home. I have been reading this comic (starting at the beginning, then catching up with the archives until I got current with the story) for over a year now, and have really enjoyed watching where Brock has taken his story, seeing art progress, and then seeing the arrival of the great Marc LaPierre to fulfill art duties on the comic this past year (Brock did both writing and art for the first few years of the comic).

I had the chance to contribute to the 5th Anniversary of this excellent webcomic by drawing up some art. Brock put out a call to artists and writers alike to contribute to the anniversary celebration by doing chapter recaps of the 12 current chapters of SuperFogeys, as well as other written and drawn submissions. I drew up a poster-style visual recap of Chapter 4 of the SuperFogeys story (entitled “Dictator Tot’s Revenge”). You can check it out here: (link to Jeremy’s art submission!).

Thanks for reading this and for checking out another fantastic webcomic!

Guest Comic Strip at Zombie Roomie

Jeff and I did a guest strip for John Wigger over at Zombie Roomie. We have followed John’s comic for quite some time now, and it was our pleasure (and an honor) to be able to do some guest work for his website. For those who already read Zombie Roomie, you may notice a few extras that were added visually that speak to George’s character especially ;). For those who don’t already read Zombie Roomie, seriously, what’s your problem go read it right now (NOW NOW NOW)!

Thanks to John for posting our guest strip!

Comic for Japan

Hey, everybody!

Thanks for joining us for a very special episode of Blossom… Wait, no. As mentioned a week ago, we’ve joined up with Comics for Japan, and put together this special comic in the hopes that you, our dear readers, would consider helping a country that has given us so much: The movie Ponyo, Blu-ray players which will play Ponyo, Toyota Siennas that drive us to Best Buy to purchase Sony flat screen TVs so that we can watch our Blue-ray discs of…well, you get the idea.

In all seriousness, though, please consider helping. The people in Northern Japan have been through an earthquake, a tsunami, and now a possible nuclear catastrophe. This sort of thing would be considered too far-fetched for Michael Bay and Jerry Bruckheimer to film, but this actually happened to real people. To real families. To our brothers and sisters in the family of humankind.

First up, Google and the Red Cross in Japan have teamed up on a page for monetary donations. The lowest you can donate is 100 yen, which translates to just above $2. Every little bit counts.

Prefer to send something other than money? Check out Second Harvest. This is an organization in Japan to which you can ship supplies that will be given DIRECTLY to the people who need them. Take a look at the list of supplies at the link. You might consider gathering up a big box of supplies and having a few friends pitch in for shipping to Japan. They need raw supplies more than money at this time.

You can also text REDCROSS to 90999 to easily donate $10 to the Red Cross.

Thank you for reading, and may your life be blessed even more than it already has been,

–Jeff & Jeremy

Japan

When I first got into the comic business, I had no idea the community and camaraderie amongst the artists, but I quickly learned. Our products may not always show it, but as artists, we’re all a buncha softies at heart. So we here at the Ouro Bros (and I’m speaking for Jeremy as well, since he’s currently getting a hose stuck in his ear or something) are joining with Comics for Japan, and would like to ask our dear readers to turn their attention to the recent tragic events the Japanese have and continue to face.
